Geoffrey Roberts Award

2011 March 28
by Mike

A quick PSA: there are four days left to apply for the annual Geoffrey Roberts Award, which is given to a person whose travels will “advance the worlds of food and/or drink,” in the words of Jancis Robinson, one of the judges. Geoffrey Roberts was a highly regarded UK wine importer who passed away in 1994. The award was first given in 1996, and it has been used to fund some wonderful projects, which you can read about here. People of all ages, nationalities, and levels of experience are eligible; anyone with a compelling idea is encouraged to apply. The winner will receive £3000 (around $4800), which is to be used for travel expenses related to his or her project. Applications are due no later than this Thursday, March 31st, and the winner will be announced in late May or early June.
